Landcruiser Mountain Park
The Park is a "working cattle property and ... privately owned wilderness park designed for off-road and bush camping enthusiasts." There are many 4WD trails and wilderness camping is available in most places; the two main camping areas are usually accessible by car.
Bigriggan Park (Beaudesert Shire)
Bigriggan is 12km from Rathdowney and 90 minutes from Brisbane. Set in 100 acres of bushland and river flats this lovely spot is managed by Erawan Pty Ltd who can be contacted on 07 5463 6190.
The park, at the foothills of Mt Barney National Park, is bounded by the Logan River and Burnett Creek. These water courses offer much from fast-flowing sections to the slower-flowing deeper holes which are excellent for swimming. There is also a sandy beach area with shallow water which is great for smaller children.
The area is nice and flat and offers excellent conditions for tents and caravans.
Amenities include showers, septic toilets, kiosk, hall with dormitory accommodation and a self-catering kitchen, barbecues, picnic tables, swimming, cycling (bring your own bikes), fishing, canoeing, bushwalking and bird-watching. Pets are not allowed.
Burgess Park
Burgess Park is 20km from Beaudesert and about 85km from Brisbane. It is well kept by the managers, Wildwood Park Management, who can be contacted on 0419 762 247.
The park is situated on Christmas Creek which provides ideal swimming for children. The old Moreton Bay fig provides great shelter during summer. The grounds are covered with lush grasses and provide an ideal area, especially for caravans.
Amenities include toilets, wood barbecues, picnic tables and swimming. There are no showers but a dip in the creek will keep you clean. Please don’t use soap or detergent in the river. It is also advisable to bring your own drinking water. Pets are to be restrained at all times.
Flanagan Reserve Beaudesert Shire)
Flanagan Reserve is situated in the shadows of Mt Barney National Park about 45km from Beaudesert and 105km from Brisbane. Gerard and Juanita are your camp supervisors and can be contacted on 5544 3128.
The reserve is situated on the Logan River and provides very good swimming holes. If you like fishing you can try your luck. The reserve provides lots of shade and, being level, is ideal for caravans. Situated close to, but not next to, Mt Maroon, Mt Barney and Mt Lindesay, this is a popular area for bush walkers.
Amenities include showers, toilets, laundry tub and kitchen sink. There are also barbecues, picnic tables and swimming facilities.
Dogs are permitted but only under strict supervision. This is a lovely quiet spot and trail bikes are not permitted.
