Children by Choice
A counselling, information and referral service, promoting womens' rights to safe, legal abortion. Contains information articles on abortion and reproductive rights.
Children's Book Council of Australia (Queensland Branch) Inc.
The national Council is "an Australia-wide organisation which aims to foster children's enjoyment of books." It organises the annual Children's Book of the Year Awards and Children's Book Week. The site contains links to other literary databases and the websites of authors who have had books entered for the Awards.

Make a noise: talking helps
A site for kids and teenagers developed as a project to prevent youth suicide. "Make A Noise is about young people making their own decisions about their health, and taking responsibility for keeping themselves healthy." It looks at issues like eating disorders and suicide but also focuses on leaving home, study, money, drugs, sex and safety and is a source for help with health education and homework.
National Drugs Campaign

The YMCAs of Australia work together, from a base of Christian values, to provide opportunities for all people to grow in body, mind and spirit. Chill Out
The Brisbane City Council's Chill Out program offers exciting and mostly free activities for young people between the ages of 12 and 16 years.
The programs are held around Brisbane every school holidays and offer a range of sporting, cultural and art activities.
The program includes activities that are free or at a low cost, such as:

Gold 'n Kids (Brisbane City Council Recreation Program)
GOLD 'n' Kids gives older people and children (four years and over) the opportunity to participate together in a variety of recreation and leisure activities.
The program caters for grandparenting or carer responsibilities over the school holidays and includes activities such as:

* puppet making
* sailing
* ten-pin bowling
* fairy theme
* dancing and cooking
GOLD 'n' Kids activities are low cost or free. Bookings are essential, as places are limited.
